What does adventure mean to you? That is a question that we examined a bit this past year.
We mostly define it similar to British adventurer, Alastair Humphries –
An adventure is basically whenever you go somewhere out of the ordinary, spend the night there (preferably camping), and do something fun (preferably novel and physically active)!
That pretty much leaves a lot of wiggle room for The Roaming Parkers to fit in some Travel, Adventure, Conservation, and Food!
Here’s you a sampler of some of our adventures during our second year of blogging!
Flash Flood at Potkopinu
We’d hiked the Old Natchez Trace through the little Potkopinu Valley before – but never during a flash flood! That was certainly an adventure!
50-Miler on the Bogue Chitto River
…and we’d canoed on the Bogue Chitto before – but never through 50-miles of blood-sucking leeches! That was certainly an adventure!
Hiking Shiloh Battlefield
…and we’d hiked at Shiloh Battlefield before – but not through creeks teeming with lampreys! That was certainly an adventure!
…and speaking of Shiloh – here is a story about a Shiloh veteran with a real sense of adventure!
