Bogue Chitto & Pearl River

Over the past year, we have concentrated our personal conservation service efforts on the Pearl and the Bogue Chitto rivers in South Mississippi.

During the Pearl River Clean Sweep, we canoed a 50-mile stretch from Holmesville Mississippi to Franklinton Louisiana and picked trash out of the river as we went. It was largely clean already – not a lot of foam containers or cans and bottles like we’d seen before – but we did see a good many punctured and abandoned tubes and floats.
