Brand new and tried & true at Gulf Shores Alabama

The Roaming Parkers love Gulf Shores, Alabama – The Emerald Coast – the Redneck Riviera!  We used to go every year but we got sidetracked and haven’t been back in about 3 years.

When we did return a few weeks ago, we had a blast and found it to be a great mix of both tried-and-true and brand-new!

Tried & True – Scoops Ice Cream

Scoops is a fixture in Gulf Shores at the intersection of Gulf Shores Parkway and 6th Avenue, it is only about 1/4 mile off the beach – not too far to walk and definitely worth the trip.

Brand New – Sunliner Diner

Just opened in May of 2018, the Sunliner is owned by the same folks as The Hangout and Surf Time.  This is a great place to get a dose of chrome and 1950’s music and memorabilia.

Tried & True – Zoo Golf

Tiki’s Mini Golf, affectionately known as “Zoo Golf” because of its proximity to the Gulf Shores Zoo, is the older of two mini golf places in Gulf Shores.  Being older, it is somewhat run-down but it is definitely still super-fun and you can’t beat the price – $5 all-you-can-play honor box.

Tried & True – The Happy Shak

Souvenirs, teeshirts, incense, crystals, etc… with a happy hippie vibe, I’m sure that the name of this place is intended to be misread as The Hippie Shak.   For years they were on the East side of the highway near the intercoastal waterway, but they have a new, more prime-time location on the other side of the road at 5th Avenue (2 doors beachward from Scoops).
